Still at them

I think rats aren't supposed to like ferrets alright. Whether they'll keep them out or not I don't know. Don't use poison inside or around a house that's all I'll say, my uncle did one time for mice who of course had to go and die under the floorboards in the hotpress :bad::bad::bad::bad::bad:

Friend of mine says about counting foxes that you can only count the ones at your feet. I feel the same way about rats, prefer to take away the reasons for them being there then eradicate without mercy.

Kill traps are the best IMO when you're sure there's nothing else around that shouldn't go into them. I must stop being so lazy and get to making proper tunnels, cubbies etc for mine.

Damned rats are in my attic... Dont think they liked it much when I sent the ferrets up to play  will the smell of ferrets be enough to keep them out of the attic until I block the hole up tomorrow?

the smell of the ferrets wont deter the rats one bit .iv had rats in the shed ontop of the ferret hutches in full view of the ferrets the only way i sorted the problem was to put mk4s and body grip traps down kill ofdf the offenders then secure the shed where they had chewed a hole in through the roof

I used to hear talk of ferrets putting rats out of holes, or was that just BS? Don't keep them myself, if I could get a €1 a rabbit I'd be a millionaire off some farms.

dont get me wrong ferrets will bolt rats from out of holes but some time, s a ferret will encounter a big old buck rat or a big female mother rat that will fight rather than shift, some people use smaller bitch type ferrets so they can get into the smalller holes these are the ones most at risk the big dog ferrets will kill a rat no problem.. what i know from experiance is the smell of ferrets alone would not stop a rat investigating any food source or such ,the best way as all ready mentioned would be to kill all invading rats then deter entry i have four traps lying permanently set in tunnels around the ferret sheds and often pick up a rat before it has the chance to become a nusiance especially as the weather is turning colder and the rats now look for easy food access happy trapping

Yeah I prefer killing them, it's more certain lol. I think the clutter is attracting them to my shed, got a little bit of straw down on the floor since Spring too. Once I get it decluttered and the straw out I reckon the catches will decrease as there is no food in there and won't be much junk after that.
