rifle zeroing

can anyone help? im looking for the best, inexpensive way to zero my rifle in accurately. i dont want to spend money on boresighters nor waste to many rounds regards.

Give up shooting if you don't want to do it properly. Bullets ain't that dear unless your feeding a .50

Set your target up at 50 yards, take your first shot and adjust your windage (if you have 1/4 click then remember to double your clicks - ie if it shoots an inch to the right, at a 100yds that would be 4 clicks, so it will be 8 clicks at 50yds. You should be able to do that in a couple of shots. You can do the same for elevation without moving the target but I prefer to move the target back to 100 yards to do the elevation which should be just a couple of shots .....in theory lol!

 

Cant remember where I heard it but after zeroing it is always worth checking point of impact at a short distance ie 30 yards, so that if you ever need to check your zero in the field (ie after you have knocked your rifle) you can always find a short distance to check the zero as sometimes it is not always possible to find a 100 yard zeroing spot when you need one quickly!

Another way is to set your rifle up and aim at a set target lining up with your scope. Make sure you do not mive your rifle from this position.Then remove the bolt and look down through the barrel. If this lines up somewhere near where your scope is then you should only need minor adjustments on your windage and elevation.
