kevmag 10
I need to know a question that i can't get an answer to. If you have permission from a land owner to shot deer, but there is gun club with the shooting rights can they stop you from shooting deer even if you have permission from the land owner. Maybe its different for every shooting estate? Thanks for your time. Quote Link to post
toby63 1,236
by gun club do you mean a syndicate shoot?.i would ask the members of the shoot what days they go and then go on a different day . Quote Link to post
kevmag 10
if someone else owns the sporting rights then the landowner cannot take or allow someone else to take game off his land. im not sure of the law in ireland but here your answer would be no. as the gun club have the sporting rights its up to them who takes game on the land. not the landowner. If you have a document signed by the farmer would this make any differance or would the club with the shooting rights have the right to shoot there. Quote Link to post

moley 115
dont matter what bit of paper you have off the farmer, he cannot give you permission to shoot game if he hasnt got the shooting rights,he can give you permission to shoot rabbits and vermin, but thats all. Quote Link to post
Lab 10,979
I would say it depends on what the shooting rights include. The shooting rights for the syndicate may be birds only. Not be the first time a syndicate has shooting rights for pheasants but not deer. I have had that situation before myself. Quite possible you have the permission and they dont. Better get it sorted with the land owner quickly! Quote Link to post
Froudy 40
I agree with lab Quote Link to post
kevmag 10
But if the deer are causing damage to the land does this make any differance? Quote Link to post
keeper23 8
at the end of the day it boils down to what is written in the contract between land OWNER and shoot syndicate. the contract i have for my estate gives me all shooting rights except deer. so try to ask the land owner if you could see a copy of the contract, but you dont want to upset the syndicate really as alot of hard work would have gone in to keeping the estate. 1 Quote Link to post

danspence2012 5
if there is a shoot syndicate already (which means they have a lease) it is possible there deer stalking rights might be owned by them, or on the other hand they may on have a lease for genral game. my syndicate has 2 leases 1 for genral game and a 2nd one for deer stalking.. i would indeed contact the shoot and talk to them and tell the storey.. you might be doing them a favor.. danspence2012 5
also argee with the above comments, even the farmer or tent farmer can not shoot or sub-ket the shooting if some one else has the lease . think all they can do is pest/vermin control. and if the club does have the deer stalking rights and the farmer has given you permission to shoot too, then he has broken his own lease if he is the land owner and could be stung up by the land agent if he is a tenent farmer.. so would go and talk to the shoot......
