Luck not on my side on this occasion....

The wind, although promising when I left home had dissapeared entirely by the time I arrived at the drop :(

Ran out anyway but the combination of no wind and heavy leaf litter on the headland gave the bunnies the edge.

Next time.....

HH all.

Watch the weather forcasts for the wind directions and see what the wind does after dark. Most winds from NW round to SE will drop off after dark, there are exceptions of course. Those NW through to SE winds are usually connected to high pressure, although a low pressure system to the south or the north of the UK can cause the same winds and they will blow into the night.

Basically if the winds are caused by a high pressure will drop off early evening, if caused by low presssure they usually stay viable. During high pressure the winds are not really winds at all. Please bear with me while I try to explain, during high pressure the days are warm, (comparativly for the time of year) the ground gets heated up quickly, this in turn produces warm air. The warm air rises, this in turn causes cold air to be pulled into the space that the rising air has left, these winds are what as known as sea breezes. (Even if you dont live by the coast.)The warmer the day becomes usually the stronger the breezes become as the air rises faster, consquently pulling in the cold air faster. But as the earth becomes cooler as evening approaches so the tempretures even out and the breezes stop.

This is my take on why the winds drop off at night, now whether this is all in my mind, or a plausable explanation, it's up to you to decide. Berfore you make your mind up watch the forcast for a couple of weeks, then make the decision.
