I honestly don't believe anybody has said that professional instantly means better than non-professional in this thread it's just some people do not know what the word "professional" actually means when used as an adjective, it doesn't mean expert, it doesn't mean better than an amateur, it doesn't mean you are amazing, it doesn't mean you have better dogs than everyone else and it doesn't mean you get more graft than a non-professional it just simply means you get paid that really is it. I'm sure I'm just pissing in the wind here because I've said it so many times before but here I've copy and pasted this from the dictionary it really has come to this :laugh: I think point five sums up exactly what I'm trying to say.....................

No ones said every full timer is better than every weekender, but IMO and its only that, is that if someone's doing a job, what ever that may be, on a full time basis, they will become experienced a lot quicker than someone who only does it when spare time allows, and the way I see it is knowledge grows from experiences.

Would you not agree that if you took 50 full timers and compared them to 50 spare timers that the former would have on average more experience and what ever else comes with that??

I wouldn't imagine there are more than 100 "Hunt terrierman" in the British Isles, but probably 10,000 or more "amateurs"

As far as "experience and whatever else comes with that" I would suggest that the best 50 out of each group would be on a par.

 

I've known some absolutely brilliant terriermen who have never been near a hunt and also some hunt terrier men

whose dogs, methods and experiences aren't worth a carrot.

 

PS. I generally agree with what you've been saying on this thread but there's two sides to every coin

not arguing sir just dont think a huntterrier. Man in full time employment is a profesion I reserve that title for professions such as doctors engineers etc you never know the hunt you carry out your terrier work for may one day make you full time but as there is no reconised qallification or college or uni , that recognises the position or run a full or part time course in terrier work , ill stick to the terminolgy huntterrier man and give it the respect i all ways have you have your opinion ill have mine.
