 the irish are a queer breed for trying to feed you, lost count of the amount of feeds ive had visiting farmers... From the full irish to bacon and cabbage to smoked haddock and soda bread to pork chops... No wonder I gained weight :whistling: then to top it off tea and apple pie or brack

Some difference between the reception you get from farmers in england and the reception you get from farmers in ireland

When i moved out here 12 years ago, i knocked on a farmers door asking for ferreting permission, and he just said "fcuk off" and shut the door in my face lol.

I do have that permission now though, only took 9 years to get it :-)

Not surprised these days really, the fact that its against the law has brought wrong uns to the game like flies to a steaming pile of turd.. Some folk will always want to be 'bad assed' for the sake of it and the fact you can now just buy a dog and instantly become part of some perceived illegal underground movement has made it appealing for certain types of people..

I would say it comes down to the type of person asking for permission rather than the person giving it. If a farmer gave that shower permission to be on the land they would probably repay him by coming back at night to steal his quad or landrover !. It would not take long before your invite in for tea was replaced with " no and if i see you on my fields i will call the police".

Spot on malt. Worst thing they did was make it illegal.

3 lads where I work have got gone out and got running dogs in the last 12 months, blokes in there late 20's, never ran dogs before, not got the first clue. They just think its cool and must be good because its against the law.

These lads driving fields without permission are gonna feck it for everyone worse than it is now.

What happened to one man and his dog nipping out for a shine or a mooch?

thats all we need. every farmer in the land will hear about that in the next live stock sale and will slam the door a little faster any time a stranger calls round to offer a service.

i feel for the younger lads getting into the game ,permission will be no existencetent in the future

It won't be long before hare coursing is viewed the same as badger digger. We can still remember when it was legal, but in another 10/20 years it will be no different to how people see badger digging. It's a shame but the kids of today might as well get a gun dog insted of a lurcher as its just too much hassle for them.
