rabbitcatcher 1 287
Yes Andy that would be great, and much appreciated I've got a rough idea but only off YouTube, I could do with buying the gear to get started as I've only got a homemade needle and a big roll of thin hemp tipe stuff which keeps snapping when I pull a knot to tight lol Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,845
Good offer that off Andy,, good man,, it's by far the best Way to learn of someone else,,, saves loads of fecking around 1 Quote Link to post
rabbitcatcher 1 287
I've been fecking around all day tomo mate I can do the first row of mesh on the ring but when I try and start the second row the twine I'm using keeps knotting before the knot is in the right place ( on top of the mesh board) but I will get it (eventually, lol Quote Link to post

deanothehunter 34
This is a very good link : In the video it shows how to start a net on the ring then the loops etc then final ring, i use a very similar system to this video but where he says under 2 strands then under one stran for the locking knot its really not needed i just go under 2 strands and never had any problems and never had a knot come loose in over 30 years of ferreting. Another thing is i only prefer natural hemp coloured twine or green / brown as i had some nets given to me once from a friend and they were bright orange and a few times the rabbits jumped towards the net then must of noticed the bright colour and they went back in to face the ferret this never happens with greens browns or natural hemp colours, but thats just my personal preference and experience.
