Deben Lithium Battery Problem

Recommended Posts

Far more problems have come from the smaller single cell lithium batteries, as i also use them in my electric cigarettes, and the forums for those

are full of horror stories of exploding batteries, they are enclosed in the same tubes the torches are, so be fairly carefull with them, dents and

blocked vent holes can create problems.

They are not real single cells either, open one up when its dead, you will find it is stacked smaller batteries.

I'm not one of those ninja types, more a lump in boots, so distance is still an issue for me :-)

Strikers were developed to use 50ws not 100w, you just seem to get a better beam with the 50

I suppose as to the rest, its horses for courses. I do like, and rate my led, and will certainly invest again if it dies, love it for quick local mooches, but will still reach for the striker over the led for longer outings.

as mad as this sounds fella, put it in a bowl of dry rice grains, uncle bens, tescos any f*****g make will do , any moisture inside that battery thats not meant to be there will be drawn out by the d

apparently mate it works a treat, its like those silica granules in sachets that you often have stuff delivered in that are succeptible to any sort of moisture, just keeps drawing it into the granules

Erm ...........     Before you put a Li Ion battery pack, or any type of battery really, anywhere warm overnight, maybe PM Ideation and ask him to send you the photos of what happens when they expl

I bet those problems were from misuse of unprotected single cells

If you look up the LF site, the Striker come with 75W and 100W bulbs from new AFAIR, the Lance comes with the 50W and a higher power bulb will damage the reflector. My mate uses a 50W in his Striker when we're out and he'll always ask me to light something up with the 100W if it's a piece away.

Horses for courses is true  I'll no longer bother with LF and the associated problems, they were great lamps in their time but had pretty fatal flaws that the manufacturer never seemed arsed to respond to, I think as LED's pass them out LF are going to hurt real bad because of it

I do hope so as i totally agree that the simple problems would of been so easy for deben to solve.

I rewired mine totally 4 years ago, and its been going great guns ever since. Mine came with a 50w

swapped to a 100w then followed advice from some one on moochers and went back to 50w and found it was better as mine was designed for it.

Also they were misuse issues in nearly all cases, overs were from dents, and some are unexplained.

When using lithium batteries, cheap is not best, as a lot of the chinese ones on the market are recycled and repackaged to look new.

Still i have no doubt they are the future.

I've bought XTAR protected 18650 batteries and an XTAR charger, they're a good brand, checked them out before I dove in. But yeah, there are a lot of dodgy batteries out there, I always cringe when I hear of people buying the cheap stuff, it's not the kind of crying I want to be doing!

Its now in a tub of rice (2 x Sainsburys cheapo rice @ 44p a bag)

Where do the chapatis go? :D

You hear and read all sorts about problems with the connections to the battery

but mine have always been sound. Not so the connection to the lamp though FFS.

I'm going to leave it there a couple of days before I try it again, otherwise it looks

like Santa will be going to Ian Hodges again in the near future.

Cheers, D.

get the hair drier on the connector hole or stick it conector side down on a radiator overnight.

Only stick it down a radiator overnight if you have fire or Deben battery insurance
