dytkos 17,791
Went out Friday night and got soaked, all my kit also. Tried flicking the lamp on Saturday morning (like you do) before charging it up and it was dead. Thought it may have run down so put it on charge. Instead of the usual several hours of charging, the light on the charger went from Red to Green in an hour or so. Tried it again and its still dead. Rang Deben (pronounced DEE BEN according to the lady on the phone) today and she said it would be fecked if I'd got it wet so don't bother sending it back Gonna try drying it the immersion heater cupboard for a day or so but does anybody know anything about repairing them? Its a couple of years old I guess and has been charged probably about 100 times. Its the older type BP 2540 Model (according to the sticker) 10ah, without any battery indicator or anything on it. Help required please? I've got a 14ah one also thats hardly used but I really would like to have this one working again. Cheers, D.
paulus 26
get the hair drier on the connector hole or stick it conector side down on a radiator overnight.
Bootsha 1,306
as mad as this sounds fella, put it in a bowl of dry rice grains, uncle bens, tescos any f*****g make will do , any moisture inside that battery thats not meant to be there will be drawn out by the dry rice. Apparently this method is also very effective at drying your mobile phone out if you have dropped it in the khasi ( after removal first of solids etc obviously ). Hope it helps.

Bootsha 1,306
apparently mate it works a treat, its like those silica granules in sachets that you often have stuff delivered in that are succeptible to any sort of moisture, just keeps drawing it into the granules and away from the sensitive stuff. Let us know how you get on with it, I like single malt but any mixer will do at a push

Strong Stuff 2,171
Erm ........... Before you put a Li Ion battery pack, or any type of battery really, anywhere warm overnight, maybe PM Ideation and ask him to send you the photos of what happens when they explode The rice is the best suggestion, if there's water in there it will draw it out.

What do you reckon could happen if you go putting it on a radiator ............. If you're happy with a potential bomb on your radiator, then that's your own business, not sure it's such great advice to give out.

Paid 935
I'll second the not putting a lithium battery on a radiator, or in a hot boiler room. Warm, yes, hot, no. The rice is the best way to go here.
