ticklemouse89 7
When zeroing a 223 does it make a different if the barrel is cold or hot Quote Link to post
Bootsha 1,306
if you were in competition mate, you'd be allowed 3 shots to foul / warm your barrell ( i think), when your in the field your taking the first shot, with a cold barrell, so i'd be more inclined to zero from cold, because the first round you send at the target from a cold barrell, is the first round you'll be sending at your selected prey species. Its the first one that counts B Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
good advice from above, always try to achieve a cold bore zero when hunting, As you want the first round to be on target, Quote Link to post

bunnybuster.ie 40
You should wait a minute or two between shots. This will give your barrel time To cool down. Giving you better grouping. Quote Link to post
GEOFF.223 83
i checked one day how long it took my cz .17hmr to cool after each shot wit a internal food thermometer, it averaged 50seconds to cool but this was in the summer. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
i checked one day how long it took my cz .17hmr to cool after each shot wit a internal food thermometer, it averaged 50seconds to cool but this was in the summer. HMR will make very little difference, you will have to fire a LOT of rounds down even a light HMR barrel, in very quick succession to warm it up to any appreciable extent. 10 shots quickly down a .223 and you will have a very hot barrel! Just the same, Zero COLD! Edited November 12, 2012 by Deker Quote Link to post
