I shot a bunny that cost £400!

Well that should get some attention. As most of you know I have an NS50, got it for my birthday, just as the nights got so blamed long it was not worth having! Anyway dusted it off and took it out to the permission. Now I know of an area with plenty of rabbit activity, but in the field behind a farmer had bought some machinery off of a Gerry Anderson set designer and it looked like some of the equipment from Thunderbird 2 was at work with damned spotlights blazing all over the place, causing vibrations you could feel in the next field down and generally unsettling the bunnies.

I waited but none appeared at dusk so I slipped the catches on the case and prepared for Nite Site use.

First, put the rubber tube on the scope, this adaptor holds the camera unit in place. Put the display unit clip on as far down the scope as you can, makes eye relief easier. plug the display unit into the camera. Then connect the battery up, check image alignment and there you are. Roll of Halo of Honour ready for bunny.

I laid down, feet in the bottom of the ditch (Aigles are lovely wellies) and waited. Some worms got a pasting on the mobile (Worms Armageddon), as I waited and waited and waited. Eventually a rabbit appeared in the edge of the field, behind which is a field where they were not working they were over one to the right). It was in the edge but the eye shone like a beacon, I aimed up and waited for my target to appear. It nervously hopped into the field, looked around and hunkered down to eat.

I was using the .177 Super 10, so I knew the PBR was 7.5 to 34 metres, I knew the back of the field was 32 metres away, I lined up, it was so easy! Got the cross hair in the perfect position and fired. Rolled over, kicked and died. Now I think I might have scared any others that were coming out by excitedly rushing in and picking up my freshly shot kill, that and Thunderbird 2 and the Mole were in that other field going up and down and getting continuously closer!

So 1 bunny to night vision, the NS 50 works, is ideal for sub 12 ranges and works well with Hawke Nite Eyes!

All been about conditions, Helga has been traded long ago, it is Otto now Mike, do try to keep up. Otto has been used because when I have been shooting the conditions have been a little variable as far as wind goes, so I use the heavyweight pellet lobber.

Mini Me has been used on quieter days (I do not write up every hunt now, only notable ones) and will be used for roost shooting on still days (seems that some autumn days have stiller air than at the height of summer)!

mate i went out last night attempting to roost shoot a few crows / pigeons with the 95k to no success because of leaf cover being still too much..

then i went lamping some lampshy rabbits also to no success.. seems i may need to make a purchase on some lamp filters, and wait another while untill all the leaves have dropped/

anyway it was a really nice night not warm not cold and not a breath of wind! very light though maybe that didnt help with the rabbits
