avoid using material that they will get there nails caught in like fleece , cotton pillow case's tied at each corner

I used pillow cases too. If you cut the pillow case open, you can either have one very large hammock, or cut it into half for 2 hammocks.

Ive used the dogs old bed, made a small cut in the corners and its tied up with bungee rope that i had. They use it like a trampoline as well as sleeping and play fighting on it, funny as watching them. Alternatively an old pillow case, bed sheet, t-shirt etc.

Fleece is good material for an hammock. If you got an old fleece jumper zip it up cut the arms off and put some string through corners.
