gonetoearth 5,144
Are we required to keep every dog until it dies of old age? Couldnt agree more..............if someone is only able to keep 2 working dogs then why spend possibly years not working dogs just to see out the life of 2 old dogs .........move them on and start again they are dogs not children. This thred aint about moving on old or shit its proven working terriers its about selling proven working terriers big diff when people have to pack it in for family or other resons etc , fook me if hounds no good shoot the fooker if a terrier no good shoot the fooker just cant abide people hiding behind reasons when they just want to make money just say selling it ill get another selling this i want xyz and move on end of as for keeping old stuff every one to there own i keep mine no big deal gave me good days give them a few years longer. THE GENERAL 1,982
Sometimes older dogs are gifted or money exchanged maybe not to a personal friend but a friend of a friend. Mostly as they are no spring chickens anymore but can still graft just as well and might do someone else you know a turn that's hard up for a worker. Not very often but it does happen and has done. Not talking about spewers ether, far from it. Quote Link to post
jawn 449
@jawn, That's a great looking jagd. How is he working out for you? D He's at my partners house near Dallas. He's making a dog of himself so far. He's got ALOT of leg under him, and is very much like his older brother. No complaints out of this line of dogs. Quote Link to post
jawn 449
Down here dogs are sold on trial with cash in hand all the time. It helps when you know the guy selling the dog. But one man's trash is another man's treasure here in the states. The reverse can also be true. I need a terrier than can not only locate, but track in very dry conditions. A man further north could sell OR give me a dog that did the job in his part of the country in good faith. I get the dog down here annd it stands on it's head. Is he a liar??? Did he sell me a POS??? The answer of-course is no. It was on me to know..I realize that things are done differently in other places. That's cool. I tend to keep dogs 'til they get themselves killed. I always say I am gonna cut back on them and often do. But it's better for me to see one die doing what it was bred for... or even sell or give it to another hunter, than to see it begging to hunt. This is my belief and I stand on it... I do not fault someone for having one of their own. 5 Quote Link to post

GrCh 856
The reason the terrier was sold was explained to the new owner it was a private matter and didnt need to be branded on a public forum. Alot of nosey people about. Quote Link to post

showmespeed 36
If you are buying dogs from people you don't know or people who can't be vouched for in the first places makes the buyer not the peddler at fault. I have never done business in dogs with someone I didn't respect or someone who I knew didn't respect them. 1 Quote Link to post
Guest Leveller
Just never sell dogs it's that simple money and dogs should never come together proven or not old dogs or pups nothing has ever left my yard in exchange for cash and never will. 4 Quote Link to post
