Bush Rummager 4,753
got my stricker 170 from johnsons fieldsports, it let me down first night out with it had to do an hours round trip for another lamp! not impressed!! returned it, in person, back to johnsons, and he fixed it (wireing) there and then, no charge, always found him to be a sound chap no probs since, touch wood!!! Guest oldskool
how do you get the reflector out? just take out the 4 screws around the face... lift off the plastic rim and glass then theres a screw behind the bulb holder... then bobs your uncle and fannys your aunt ... before the blaserlite came out i would have replaced the 55watt for a 100watt bulb in my laser... it was ok but if you left it on for too long it tarnished the reflector and left the beam a bit yellowy.. just order a metal reflector for the blaser and that will be it sorted Quote Link to post
T78 4
how do you get the reflector out? just take out the 4 screws around the face... lift off the plastic rim and glass then theres a screw behind the bulb holder... then bobs your uncle and fannys your aunt ... before the blaserlite came out i would have replaced the 55watt for a 100watt bulb in my laser... it was ok but if you left it on for too long it tarnished the reflector and left the beam a bit yellowy.. just order a metal reflector for the blaser and that will be it sorted there are no screws on mine?? the whole face, glass, reflector and head screws off to get at the bulb... i recently blew my bulb so bought a new one (the old one didnt have the wattage on it) best i could get was 50 watt (£1.40) it was pants and definately not as bright as the old one, so managed to find a 75 watt bulb which seems as bright as the original, but does seem to throw a wider beam of light. T78 4
just realised you're talking bout different lamp ,i have a lightforce 170.sorry!!but any ideas on how to tighten the beam?i've tried focusing it but it only gets wider... Quote Link to post
Morris 0
I Have a 170 matched with a 12 volt 18amp battery, it last about three hours good lamping, i've only ever had one problem in 2 seasons. The damn thing melted the wires between the lamp and the battery. but it was only once. i think there a good lamp, i'd buy another one. Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
The depth the bulb's pins sitting in the socket matters also and could need adjusting, its gotta be like the little bears porridge.... just right, not to far in an not to far out, just a matter of trial an error, pick a night when you aint got the dogs on a big field and adjust BUT don't touch them bulbs with your bare fingers. I always cut (burn) the clasps off my Lightforce filter then wrap insulation tape around the inside (once). This for me gets rid of the clatter an twang of gettin the filter on an off, far too noisey and a lot quicker too. On the subject, I used to only use Cluelights but became a Lightforce user about 5 years ago, yes they have great beams but Cluelights are nigh on indestructable in comparison, an for a general stroll I'm goin back to them with the Lightforce for the bigger jobs. Cheers Quote Link to post
T78 4
i've tried pulling it out and pushing it in.but all that got me was a pregnant missus! seriously, have tried the bulb with no success. more trial and error required.... Quote Link to post
ASME IX 1
i have two lightforce 170s,one that i bought about 14yrs ago and a new one.the old one i had to push the bulb alway in the bulb holder to get a tight spot beam.and the new lamp it needs to be stuck out about 4mm from the bulb holder. i also had trouble tryin to get get a tight beam on the new lamp so i tryed the reflector of my old lamp on it,funny thing is the beam went perfect when i swaped reflectors ,it seams to me that the disign of the new reflectors has altered the beam patern..(for the worse) regards a9 Edited June 27, 2007 by ASME IX Quote Link to post
