thats was filmed just up the road from me my uncle nos the family well mate and that film done them no justace as it made them look simple but infact they wre top notch engineers and could make any part and repair sort of steam or agricultral machineary they were also very well none in southern england as the go to people for steam engine and boiler repairs etc saddley most of them are no longer with us

The son was a few sandwiches short of a picnic though. Did the old man ever build that boat, the one that would be "semi submersible"?

 

More people need to see that movie it's incredible.

don't know why you would think the film made them look simple.  I think the exact opposite.  They come across as much more intelligent and more poetic than most people.  And anyone can see how skilled they are.  most of the time it is the old man laughing at us and the rest of the world and the mess we've made of it.  I think it's a wonder of a film.  Have watched it many times and there's always something new to discover every time.
