graham4877 1,181
Hmmm. Got the results today and customs tell me 10the shots out of 24the went over 12ftlb. Not exactly what I thought was going to happen. They might be giving me the opportunity to hold the rifle until my section 1 gets cleared (up 10 weeks in my area). They exporter says they 100% confirm that there was no possible way of it being over. But,,,clearly not. So ill wait and see what customs say and them rinse the exporter if it gets destroyed I'd be wanting my money back in full 1 Quote Link to post
bullit666 5
Well im seeing what customs say first. If it doesn't go my way ill be asking for mt money or another rifle. If he declines ill just claim it through mastercard Quote Link to post

bullit666 5
This will tickle you then. Sent from the usa on 9/10/12. Arrived at customs 11/10/12. Too and throwing cause they couldn't determine the power. I was confident it was sub 12ftlb. Sent to forensics for testing. And this is the upshot. Over a month of frustration Quote Link to post

Over a month of frustration ahaha taken the piss,I didn't think they'd test it tbh,as i was of the thinking it would be the importers duty to make sure it was with in our laws, and a copper was telling me she locked a lad up who had got a gun from china and it was running @ 20+ft'lbs, so made me think they would just pass it, with all the right paper work n stamps , and a month from the USA FFS Quote Link to post
Baghdadnights 150
More like customs have spent the month trying to get it over the limit. I'd be requesting a print out of the test with what pellets. Then asking for an independent test 2 Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
If I'm correct, they can not destroy the gun without either a court order or your consent (of course your consent goes outta the window, if your charged with importing an illegal gun and then found guilty in a court of law). My gun is still in the Firearms safe in the police station, after six months they wrote to me to ask if they could destroy it, i said "No fecking way" and they said the they wont/cant destroy it without my consent Tony 1 Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
No they won't allow it to be reduced once it's hot, it's FAC for LIFE! I asked about it being sent back to the manufacturer for "Re-manufacturing" but they wouldn't have it. I -DO- have a legal "Hairsplitter" though that with the help of BASC I may be able to pull off Mine was running at 13.04 but they told me I have to apply for my FAC in order to take 'Possession' of the gun. (I just dont have any land that can be classed as FAC legal) yet, My hair splitter is that the serial number is on the action/block. If I have the 'block' (power-delivery system) destroyed and have another one made with a different serial number at sub12 and then fitted to the 'parts' it may then be another gun? We shall see. I will NOT give up on the ULTRA! It's value is not much monetery wise, but as it was a gift from a couple of friends, it's priceless to me Tony Quote Link to post
bullit666 5
I already asked about returning it to the exporter. No chance. I've gotta feeling that an independant test would be out if the question. After all customs are a bunch of c**** and a law of their own.. I email airgun exporter and he said if they destroy it(dont think ill have a say) and I have prove of power output then a full refund will be given. If they allow me to put it on my fac when I get it then he will refund $100 for the trouble. He wanted an independent test. But customs wont go for that. They send them of to an independent forensic lab for testing anyways. Any other ideas? Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Customs do not use and "Independant" tester. They may send it to the Forensic Firearms Place (forget exactly where it is exactly; but its the same place that the instructor kept live ammo in a Quality Street tin and managed to shoot on of his students! thinking it was inert! :FFS: ) Tony ps I know their "Health and Safety Expert" I've shot against her in pistol comps Quote Link to post
bullit666 5
Hmmm thats not a great help. mind you im pretty positive they wont allow an independent test. THE B******S F*****G C**T FLAPPING TW*****G K**B JOCKIES. had to get that off me chest a bit Quote Link to post
clubshot 22
No UK Police Area does own Testing it's Sent to a Commercial Lab - Adivised Costs was well over £500.00 per gun for testing and report Yes Police might Run it through a Chrono with Pellets Found - But if they Supect it's over they Will get Permission to send it off for Legal testing & Report Yes They do offer many offending owners the Choice of Destruction or a Court Case Which could result in a Fixed Five Year Jail Term If Police not allowed - Can not see Customs being allowed to Test Aware from many other posts UK Customs are not sure they will returned it to Sender Reason Why many USA Dealers will not Send Air Guns to UK Yes some get through - But as All Imported Mail is Xrayed these day's not much get's through Post or Via Couriers Re return to USA - Customs will Charge return Carriage - Which some Dealers will not want to pay Again Offer of pay to Return or Legal Destruction Especially as Carriage is 2-3 Times that from UK to USA as Carriage from USA to UK Yes the like of BASC or Countryside Alliance can offer Members Assistance But general view these days is the risk often is not worth the time and effort Not forgetting that USA does not have power limit's for Air Guns With the majority manufactured to well exceed UK unlicensed Sub -12.00FP power limit's Also if FAC Rated it would have to go via a UK RFD - BOB/R Quote Link to post
