revmx 35
hey guys i was given tomorrow off work so i thought i would head out again with the spotlight this time i went to a farm about 300 acres and all rocky hills the night started off really slow with 5 rabbits shot in the first 2 hours then i final spotted a fox and he was sitting well out on the tree line witch was about 500 meters away and well out of my shooting range so i thought i would try something different and i used a hare in distress call that i have on my phone and to my surprise the fox started trotting towards me at about 300 meters away the wind changed and was blowing straight towards the fox so i made a quick shot and it sounded good with a nice solid thwak so i started to walk over to get my scalp but i could not find him in the long grass after 15 min of search i gave up and started out walking towards the other end of the farm and when i got the last hill i was on top and i could see 3 sets of eyes so again i used the hare call and had 2 of them with about 70 meters in no time at all so i took aim at the closest one and another good solid thwak so i started looking for the other one and when i found him again he was at about 150 meters and walking away from me so another quick shot and another one in the bag so i walked down the hill to get my scalps again i found one of the foxes in about 2 seconds and spent the next 10 minutes walking in knee high grass trying to find the second one but again could not find it so i gave up and started walking back to the car and about half way up the hill and turned around just in case i could see the other dead fox but to my surprise there was another 2 foxes sitting on the tree line watching me at about 200 meters but one of the foxes was sitting behind a tree and only poking his head out for a quick look and looking away again but the other one was was walking down to where the other 2 foxes where shot so i thought it must of been the mother to the ones i just shot so another projectile away and another one on the ground but the other one was still sitting in the tree line so i walk down to the tree line to find the fox was stuck in the fork of a small tree so that was a good find a free scalp with out even letting a shot off... so at teh end of the night i shot 3 fox pups 1 vixen and 1 i think was a big dog fox(first fox i could not find)......cheers revmx Quote Link to post
