soaking od

Recommended Posts

Well last sunday had to be the worsed soaking i have had over a number of years hunting,i knew it was bad, when i took my socks off and had to cut the skin between my toes, even my cb blew up (fuc--d),but nevermind the hunting was good ,hounds found they're drag in a tidy sized patch of bramble, going away in good voice, even thou the weather was atrocious there was a good following of boys, same as usual lurchers one side of the valley ,guns on the other side, the drag ran past them all, with the hounds in close pursuit, within three quarters of an hour the drag had ran through most of what i had planed on hunting that day,he then crossed out and decided to run through country that i had organized for the following week, by now they were out of ear shot, and for me i was keep up dated by the cbs, some of the farmers had got in their trucks and headed off ,to keep me informed ,walking up the valley thinking to myself its going to be one of those days,i was still getting regular up dates where they were, and i was still a mile and a half, to two miles away from them, when i heard he's turned crossing the road back over to our side of the village, still a good distance away but it was looking good, still walking up in the right direction, their singing was getting louder and louder, then it went quiet for a few minutes, then they started calling in the same place ,they were marking him in a big old place, three blast's on the horn ,terriers were on they're way,all this time and there was still no let up with the rain ,so there was quite a few boys come in to try and hide from the rain, the question was asked what to do,because of the size of the place it was decided just drop the little bitch in and see what happens, hounds up on the bank ready and waiting, well this thing ran from one side of the earth to the other, after threequarters of an hour ,we had a mark right under a big fu-k off tree, showing 1.2 on the BF,the boys went down about 0.6 hitting big roots, real pig of a place ,as the boys broke through he bolted ,hounds lifted they're heads ran over the bank ,but because none of us seen it going we stopped the hounds,"big mistake" a few seconds later the terrier showed ,took hounds down to where we thought he had come from ,they took a drag for a short distance but could'nt do much with it ,it happens ,i decided then to cross out onto some fresh ground, dropping hounds into a good sized wood next to the farm,it did'nt take long and three drags were up on their feet, one going away up a hedge row, while the other two were running circles around the wood ,scent was'nt that good in the begining but as the hunt went on the cry got louder, now there was a real good cry hounds had pushed them out of the cover and were running the fields ,but as earlier on in the day these drags were running wild,in directions that they would'nt have done over the years pasted, these were heading to a large patch of forrestry, the only thing is this forrestry was cut down years ago and whats there now is just a mess ,fallen trees ,brambles ,gorse,a hell hole, yes thats where they went ,it was 4.0pm ,6.30 two hounds still short we called it a day,i picked one hound up the following day with the farmer, the other one is still there "little bugger"im out tomorrow in the same place so hopefully she'll join back up with us ,
