Popular Post dogs-n-natives 1,182
When I was a keeper I caught two youngish lads on my fell, with a lurcher and an air rifle. Yeah I shit them up a wee bit at forst but I went and put the trailer on the bike, I told them to get in, and with my rifle and lurcher I showed them a cracking nights sport and pest control. They left the place buzzing. I allowed them back on if they rang me first and went only in the places I told them were ok. They held their end of the deal. Its all to easy to get mega stressed at folk that are just like us, and no matter how much we feel like we are the sole guardians or even 'owners' of the land, we live in a crowded fecking sess pit of an island, and its only getting more crowded. We need to give the young lads a foot in the door, show them how to look after the numbers of game on the land, so there is always enough for a good season. Then they wouldnt have the need to poach (as much!) haha I know some poachers are in a different league though, and can cause severe damage, so im in no way saying all poachers should be welcomed, but especially in the areas I started off in, and probably everywhere else, the land has long been 'taken' and any lads starting off have got it HARD All the best DnN 26 Quote Link to post

moonlighter 1,163
There is tough young keeper up there., you don't wanna be crossing him Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
Whenever i find lads on my permissions i just let them crack on. Aslong as they aint causing me or the landowner any hassle than whats the problem ? I never used to have much permission and would ferret roadsides. Quite often people would pull up and say " we have horses and the rabbits are digging the fields" or that rabbits were damaging there gardens. You would get the odd wanker saying hunting with rabbits is illegal but not too many. I will allways take people out who have a genuine interest and are willing to learn and respect the land. beast 1,884
it all depends who it is. i pulled up at some of my permission a few years ago and there were lamps on, so i went to see what was going on. as soon as i was spotted all 3 lamps were shone on me, and instead of running off they ran towards me and i was set upon by three irish gentlemen without even a word being exchanged. i ended up in casualty, but at least i broke one of the b*****ds noses (i think!). anyone who is respectful i would turn a blind eye, but that experience has made me a bit worried to go and find out if they are decent folk or not. if it happened again i would simply call the landowner and let them deal with it, at least if there was any damage i would not get the blame 1 Quote Link to post
