6 month old whippet

Recommended Posts

Leave him another 4 months before you go lamping him etc, Won't hurt taking him ferreting in a couple of months though just for a look. Any dog needs to be both physically and mentally capable before you enter them to any quarry. And at 6 months he's just too young.

seen dozens of dogs ruined by folk starting them too early, but never seen one ruined by starting it too late

just keep at it with training forget about hunting yet 12 mth+ is a good age to start .if you start early the dog may start yappin and whippets are known for that just take your time and enjoy.

not knocking starting later, but i took my Whippet Pup ferreting at six months, he was starting to use his nose, and see the rabbits hitting the nets, and seeing how the ferts worked, just hunting along hedgerows.

And he has never yipped.

this is the way i brought on my Whippet X Bedlingtons, and they never yipped either.

this is him at six Months.

cracking looking dog there mate. have you always worked whippets what's your overall view of pure breeds? dog in the pic looks quite a size for a whippet measured ours the other day and is standing about 17 inches, is that about right for his age?
