mhopton 807
If any one in the Durham area with mk 1 or a mk 2 collar would like to meet Sunday to try with my mk 3 box let me know it would be a big help many thanks in advance Quote Link to post
PETEWINN 5
The old Mk1 grey rectangular finder will pick up all collars regardless of vintage. Mk1 collars can only be used with a Mk1 finder. Mk2, Mk3 and Mk3M finders will not work with Mk1 collars. Mk2, Mk3 and Mk3M collars can be used with finders of any vintage. This has been discovered by my own tests and is different to what Deben tell you. Obviuosly mixing different versions of the kit means that the depth the finder is showing is incorrect. I was watching a youtube tutorial recently and the chap (can't remember his name) mentioned that the mk1 collars do work with mk3 locators. So you think differently? Brimmer 220
Found it fun whilst out with an un-named mate of mine a few years ago, that my old grey knocker box found his mk 3 equipped ferrets quicker and more accurately than the orange 'Thing!'. Quote Link to post

Rabpete is on the money,,, having both types myself,,, a mark 3 box will NOT work with a mk 1 collar,,,, but a mk1 box will pic up a mk 3 collar,, including mk3m, and the original mk3, the grey shaped one. I tell you something though,, that bloody orange box of vins is way out,,, it said 8 foot yesterday on locate,,, I dig down 3.6 feet and broke through,,, bulldog rabbiting spade length ,,, realy annoying cos if it were any deeper, it wouldn't have found it on locate, only search... At that point I said change the battery ,,, so we did,,,, no change. That the one thing I liked about the old grey boxes,, dead accurate with depth Quote Link to post

sam007 34
I have found that the MK1 will locate all collars Mk2 (new Type Box) will only pick up MK2 collars (black collars) Mk3 will pickup MK3(greycollars) and MK3m MK3m will pick up MK3m and MK3(grey collars ) MK3m & MK3 Will not pick up MK2 I have all 3 types and and I would stay away from the MK2 (load of Crap) However I have heard that there are a few MK 2 collars that have the MK3 guts they were made when Deben were trying out the MK3.
