how to get my patterdale terrier to go to ground

just wondering if any body could give me sum advice or tip on getting my dog to go to ground

You have got to let him see what its all about as a spectator let an experienced dog show him what he is missing when he realizes there is fun to be had you will have trouble stopping him

i dont have overs to go with as they do not agree with this i have ferrets and simpily injoy the sport

With some dogs it's just in them pretty much from birth others you have to be patient with! my pup is hard to hold back but others my dad has owned have been pets until a few years old much to his disappointment! but thos little black dogs usually have it in them just find a way to let him see a fox so he knows what that smell is and he will go and he will love it when he does but don't force him let him make his own way and be very patient

you can try him in an 8 foot length of drain pipe 8 to 10 inches diameter by getting a mate to put him at the entrance and you calling hi at the other end. and making a fuss of him when he does it then try him at different holes after a while

Racey,no disrespect but you don't sound ready yourself mate,do you own a locator,spades,bars,nets,etc and what will you do if he does'nt come out??how will you dispatch your quarry??I suggest you find some decent local terrierman that will show you the legal way of terrierwork,WM

i would definitly recommend going out with someone who has a good grafter and letting him see how fun it is and he wont be able to help him self i am sure you will manage to find some one who will take u out
