gnipper 6,426 Posted December 11, 2012 Report Share Posted December 11, 2012 Gnash any finch x canary is a mule and a finch x finch are hybrids. People breed them because (hopefully) the resulting mules will have hybrid vigour (hardier than both parents) and will sing more freely than the finch will but is capable of singing the finch song, a pure canary can't hit the notes of say a goldy for example.
