Heart murmurs also quite common in whippets, last two of my mothers both had them.

and lived till 15 no problems but i suppose theres different ones

Some of the best coursing salukis have heart murmurs an as aposed to it been a problem seems coincidence that a lot of the best have it all a heart mumur is a irregular beat so can mean a valve isn't quite normal so more blood could be traveling through the lungs picking up more oxygen I've also heard of someone taking show greyhounds out with a friend slipped on a hare dropped dead with a heart attack after 40 yards

Her vet gave the heart murmur a number, sort of a scale of the severity. The last one was worked all its life no probs, this one is more a pet, but out every day in woods chasing squirrels and showed no problems to date. Makes you wonder how common it is. Both were from working lines as well.

the vet i went to said it was but he also never picked up on any of his problems i used to tell him about like heavy panting and out of breath after a walk round the block,also sometimes he would just start rocking and fall over be out of it for 2mins then bounce back up never found out anything this is why i have major issues with vets i cant stand them they make me sick all there after is money they find out you got your dog insured and they rape it!!

 

i watched my dog suffer out of breath he just laid down and wouldnt stop panting tounge went blue had to leave him on the spot i ran home got my car and put him in the back with my mum we were both in bits at the time he died in the back of the car i couldnt even look at the back seats after that for weeks made me cry all the time fcuking awfull i know it sounds bad but ive had mates die and i wasnt as cut up as i was with that dog.he was a gentil giant.

 

to behonest im now thinking all these stupid jabs and boosters he had didnt help he was always ill and had sh1ts no matter what i fed always had skin problems ect i read and read now and i lokk after my dogs not vets.only use them for neutering if needed.

Misses mum and dad had a little blue and white whippet bitch 3 n half years ago got pts because of a heart murmour not a nice thing to go through
