troter58 1,711
put the lead on the the dog and leave it on and let the pup walk around with it dragging behind it it will get used to it then it will start to walk with it on atb Quote Link to post
nasher1 258
Start off just clipping the lead on in the house, let the dog get used to having the lead hanging from it, some dogs take a while to get used to the lead stay patient it wont quicken the process if the dog knows you are getting stressed out Quote Link to post

paulf 820
If your pup is walking along side you already just quietly slip the lead over its head ,if it dont work then do as the others say and just leave the lead on it to run around the garden. Quote Link to post

desertbred 5,490
Trotters advice is right put a old lead or a piece of rope on her collar about 3 foot long let her pull it round for a few days she will be used tto the pressure then she will walk on the lead she will pull bat get her out of that habit asap by changing direction when she pulls and say heel Quote Link to post

hunting mad 147
Putting a lead on a pup to walk round the garden is ok but it doesn't teach the pup that your in control when it's on a lead which is the point. Take the pup for a walk when it stops give the pup a pull while calling it will probably keep stopping and whining every couple of steps just keep it up for a few days not too much at a time it will soon learn atb Quote Link to post
sowhat 1,572
Sometimes they walk better if you take another dog with you, Good luck Quote Link to post
