spring gun or pcp

i am buying my first air rifle and want to buy a good one for hunting birds and rats and rabbits around the farm, after using my brothers gamo .22 spring rifle i loved the sport there and then,

 

the question is not what gun to go for as i was looking at an air arms s400 but the problem is i have to pay so much more to use the gun in tanks and filling tanks aswel as the trouble of the dirt and moister in the air,

 

i want a pcp but wondering will a high class spring rifle be a better choice and if so what spring rifle or will i be so much happier when i get the s400

if you want a top of the range spring rifle.go for Air Arms,Weihrauch,there are plenty to choose from

just make sure your not in the noodle arm club,as they moan about the weight of the rifles.

Hi bud i own both spring and pcp rifles ,pcp yes you need bottles to fill it up but with a pcp you have no recoil so its easer to shoot and hit your target and i use mine in all kinds of weather ,springers no bottle requierd just pick up your rifle and go but you need to remember that all spring rifles recoil when fired but practice makes perfect and once you have marsterd a spring rifle you will love it have a look at the hw range ie,hw77,hw77,hw97,hw80 or the tx200,tx200 hc all good springers or pcp,s aa,s410 aa s400 aa s510 or( hw100 top of its class) and so on the more you want to spend the better the rifle but you can get some good deals second hand and with the bottles and the same go,s for the springers to atvbmac

i have a 410 and a prosport the 410 spends more time tucked away at home than the pro..it has been said on here by someone that being accurate with a pcp is a skill but being as accurate with a springer is an art! i believe shooting with the springer has made me a better shot. no great shakes but quietly confident out to 45 ish yards

glad to hear that someone has a pcp and uses the spring rifle so wont feel as bad buying a dear springer if i choose that way 45 yards is quite a nice distance will be aiming for somthing cllse to that some day

Hi ryan keep an eye on here mate hw97 ,s are allways coming up for sale on the for sale sec 339 must be for a new one you will get a cheeper one second hand bud and a thumhole one at that i payed 430 for mine new and that was for a new rifle with no scopes sling or bag last year you cud pick some thing like the one i had for your kind of money now mate heres a photo of what you could get atvbmac ps, I miss her so much

nice looking rifle when i had the tx200 mk3 177 i never used my pcp hardly as it has hardly any recoil amazing accuracy so smooth to shoot with and nicely balanced.But the 97 is just as good hope you find what you're looking for atb
