zini 1,939
Hi lads and lasses, After following but not commenting on a previous locked thread in one of our sections while also pondering for new ideas for episodes of VerminHuntersTV I have come up with a idea and I would like some feed back if possible please. Me and Davy are always looking for new unique and good ideas for our channel and reading some of the posts in this said thread I realised that we have a lot of talented air rifle shooters that visit and post in our sections. Me and Davy do a lot of miles of travelling up and down the country to film and as long as the locations aren't more than 2 or 3 hours away we will usually go there to film. I was wondering if people would be interested in joining us on the channel and demonstrating some of the skills that you have achieved over time and practice while shooting? This would serve 3 points. 1 it would give us all something new to look at on the channel, 2 it would show what airgunners in the section and a whole can achieve with patience and practice and 3 if someone is doubted (Identity wise) then its the ideal place to be filmed giving no doubt to anyone about who you are or not. I don't want the episodes to be used as a Judge Judy type affair and VHTV wishes to stay out of any arguement and be totally neutral, just showing airgunners at their best. Now we are only interested and are not going to be filming rabbits and other quarry shot at long ranges, we are only interested in interviews and shots on targets or any other unique and safe demo which you have in mind. The 1 penny piece hanging in a tree I read about at 72 yards really interested me and would take extreme skill to hit and its fair play and well done to anyone that can hit something that small once ne mind consistently. At the last Hunting Life meet, Adam (the winner of the long distance shot) a very capable shot took 3 attempts to hit a 20 mm kill zone at 75 yards so a penny (smaller) would be very worthy of editing into a episode of VHTV a long with maybe another 7 or 8 demo's from who ever is interested in taking part. Anyway Ill leave it out there as a idea. If enough people are interested we can sort something out and put a really interesting and unique episode of VerminHuntersTV up on the channel. Please come back with feed back. Si. Edited November 1, 2012 by zini 2 Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
You got the bones of something superb. I'm going to give it some thought and hopefully come back with some flesh for those bones. Cracking idea with the potential for a high standard of good entertainment. Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
I think personally you should just keep vhtv how it is. I don't wanna see you drive 3 hours and make a film of someone shooting a penny out the tree. At the end of the day this is just my hobby, something to spend a few hours doing to chill in a hectic lifestyle. I don't want that magic to disappear and certainly wouldn't want someone sticking a cam in my beak. Great news for those that want to chest beat though and take you up on the offer si you would have nothing to lose. For me though its a thumbs down, I just wanna gear and you and Davey enjoying the thrill of the hunt! If I'm totally honest I tend to cringe away from your episodes where it's an interview or let's meet up with my mate so and so. Your lovely little face got me back into airgunning si with the old zinaroon channel and shows. Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Nothing would please me more than to come and visit you and go shooting together I think your a top bloke but the minute that camera comes out si I wouldn't really enjoy it so much. Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
Here's one thought that's come to mind that would hopefully keep your mileage to the minimum. Members could film a little piece of themselves doing x/y or z and upload it to a www.mediafire.com account in the same way I did for the THL meet footage (I'd be happy to write a little guide/how to). Of course, they could also burn a data cd/dvd and post it. Si, you could then edit and splice clips together and make an episode or two with an assortment of shooters and content. This could be a piece on their land, their methods, equipment, guns, quarry etc etc. If possible, a nice broad representation of the UK from the Highlands to the south coast. It could also encompass some other methods used, not solely airguns but perhaps airgunning with dogs, something abit broader. The name of your channel 'Vermin Hunters TV' could easily accommodate these other hunting disciplines, and widen your appeal to more subscribers. Just the first of i'm sure more and many thoughts. Good luck Si, you've done a lot of hard work to build your channel, it shows too. Quote Link to post

fitchet 788
I wouldnt mind seeing an episode of shooting roosting pigeons and magpies without the aid of a lamp. Obviously you would have to wait for the leaves to drop off abit more but would be an interesting watch. ATB Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Ok then lads as I said it was only a idea and nothing more. I'll just leave it as it was if that's how you feel about how the channel is going Mawders bud. Fitchet, If we get the chance to do some roost shooting I will defo put up the clip for you mate. Villaman Regarding the 1 p in a tree at 72 yards. It is achievable Ive just been out and done it with my HW100 S. I almost did it in one shot looking at the video footage after but then I went to pot really as I didn't see where the first shot or many of the shots landed from the rifle end to aim off. I ended up doing it in 13 shots as I was shooting in a breeze and I couldn't see my fall of shot (FOS) for the misses on my back stop. x 10 was off the mildots 5.5 ish so i was guessing on the thick part of the reticule and x 9 was 4.5 dots hold over but the target was too small to see clearly so i was onto a looser straight away. Both magnifications I couldn't properly see the FOS. Maybe if I had my spotting scope and the weather was calmer I could have done it in a lot less shots and more than once I think if I'm honest (all chest beating aside). Si. pianoman 3,587
Si I'd like to do something for you mate. Especially if I can demonstrate just how effectively accurate a real top notch spring rifle can be. FAC or sub-12 is all the same to me. You know what my level of shooting is mate, so what would you like to see? Love and best wishes to Davy, you and Laura. Simon Edit to add. .22 or .177 is all the same to me too. I'll take on ANYONE here with a PCP as good as a Rapid, Air Arms. HW100 or Daystate for a bit of fun!. Edited November 1, 2012 by pianoman 3 Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Thanks Simon, Going off what Mawders and Villaman have said maybe we can do something together again at the meet in Jan in Nottingham. That way we can cover it in the normal meet episode that we do and it wont be so boring for others to watch (meant in a nice way). That or we can do a spring rifle hunting session with you me and Davy on one of our permissions where we can just hunt with springers. That way everyone will hopefully be happier. Si. milegajo 595
Villaman and Mawders do make a good point, you obviously have a formula that people enjoy and respond to. 1 Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Yes Mike I agree with what they have said 100%, hence my reply to Simon. Me and Davy are out tomorrow with Darryl (Marksman) on the golf course rabbiting and we will be filming. We are also filming a unique episode on Sunday (details to follow soon), so there is some good action to come on the channel soon. The original idea was to edit lots of clips together from different people and make a The Hunting Life Forum skills episode for the channel so others could watch too and see what's capable with a air rifle from skilled individuals. If that's a bad idea then we will stick to what we have been doing. No harm done and no offence taken. Si. Quote Link to post
