Scope mounts for a HW100 - Airmasters 88??

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Ive just ordered a Hw100KT in .177 and as i already have a MTC viper 4x16x50 i would like to get some mounts, so as soon as i get the rifle i can get it all set up.

Now, i have the mounts that came with the the viper scope but ive seen quite a few posts suggesting that the HW100 can benifit or atleast its no harm if a one piece mount is used.

I have read a few people saying that Airmasters 88 ( dave walthem ) mounts is good but i cant find any info on them, can anybody shed some light on these?

Also there is a guy called POK! on the WOF posting that Sportsmatch mounts dont fit correctly on the HW100 dovetails and that the BKL mounts are a better fit.

http://weihrauchowners.freeforums.org/scope-mounts-t4970.html?hilit=sportsmatch%20canted&start=0

If i were to go for the BKL mounts can anybody suggest what hight i would be able to get away with?

Any advice or opinions of the above would be appricated.

A once piece mount is only useful on a springer because of the recoil they are useless on a pcp because there's no recoil best off just saving your money and use the mount you have

Not exactly useless as they still hold the scope in place !

I think what the op is worried about is a subject thats been mentioned on other forums regarding flexing of the HW100 block due to it being a 2 piece design held together by

bolts at the bottom of the block.

Apparently all us HW100 owners should be using a 1 piece mount in order to clamp the action tight together or we run the risk of losing the zero on the rifle ?????

Appletree Don't worry yourself about it mate just ensure the 2 bolts are done up tight and buy yourself some quality mounts that suit the height of your objective lens on your scope.

The only thing that I bothered to modify on my HW100 was having a free floating barrel by removing the barrel band.

This is a personal preference of mine due to looks and I couldn't say weather it improved the accuracy one bit.

This is spot on advice.

Its a load of nonsense about the action flexing, I think its an uraban myth to try and put HW down after creating a superior PCP

Usually from upset Theoben Rapid owners who are pissed at paying over the odds for a rifle that a most other PCP's match or best !
