YES !

Nothing better than some lightly fried woodys, breasted of course , either that or golashed, as for the rabbits - livers & kidneys get cooked up for the dogs, rest of the rabbits go to my mates hawks or ferrets - nothing I shoot gets wasted.

Yup, the only meat I eat.

I eat the bloody lot,, had a squirrel recently,, tastey,, just stuck an apple up it`s arse and slamed in the oven ! mmmmm!     I hate wasting anything,, what I don`t eat the ferrets or dogs get.

I eat the Pigeons and give the rabbits to the butcher who in turn makes a £1.50 donation to the Royal Green Jackets. Works for all!

I love Woodpigeon breast and eat any I shoot, pan fried in a little salted butter and soaked in Soya Sauce then put onto hot buttered wholemeal toast. Although I cannot stand the taste or smell of Rabbit, who ever reckons they taste like chicken either hasn't eaten chicken or hasn't tasted Rabbit. Give me fresh Brown Trout cooked straight from the water, wrapped in silver foil with only herbs and butter added anyday.

Well I have just went a whole trip home from work without buying meat,, all the meat I have used was killed by me, or others in the case of pheasants and partridges.

Been living on ducks, pheasants, partridges, rabbits, deer and sheep.. all free range ! hahahaha

I dont eat everything I shoot myself.

The feeezer isnt that big to keep filling just with rabbits and woodies etc.

Me and Davy took 20 bunnies to the butchers the other day from a nights cull and made some money.

Sometimes the rabbits are used as bait for corvids and if im honest if its a pest control job and its late, they sometimes go for Charlie.

I always strive to eat everything I shoot other than magpies rats and such, any excess goes to friends or neighbours,

My policy too! I have built up a good range of tried and tested recipes, however the other half had a try with Chicken Jambalaya the other night, would work very very well with rabbit and is a one pot recipe too! Basically a spicy risotto with Chroizo and Rabbit in it. Would work very well, it is a Louisiana recipe so will work with anything you can acquire, like prawns, rabbit, squirrel, alligator (but make it snappy)...

Seasoning recipe

2 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 1/2 teaspoons paprika

1 teaspoon ground mace (or black pepper)

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 1/4 teaspoons dried oregano

1 1/4 teaspoons dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Any unused seasoning save and coat pigeon breasts in before frying! Yeehaw!

Ingredients

1 tbsp olive oil

2 chopped chicken breasts (or 1 rabbit or a few pigeon breasts or a few squirrels or a damned good mix of all 3, this is Jambalaya, all meat to be taken off the bone)

1 onion diced

1 red pepper thinly sliced

2 garlic cloves crushed

75g Chorizo sliced

1 tbsp Cajun seasoning

250g long grain rice

400g can plum tomatoes

350ml chicken stock

Method

Heat the oil in a large frying pan with a lid and brown the chicken for 5-8 mins until golden. Remove and set aside. Tip in the onion and cook for 3-4 mins until soft. Then add the pepper, garlic, chorizo and Cajun seasoning, and cook for 5 mins more.

Stir the meat back in with the rice, add the tomatoes and stock. Cover and simmer for 20-25 mins until the rice is tender.
