bobcullen79 1,495
Hi All, Well Im 30+ yards into a 25yd quickset, so I thought I would see if I could get someone to knock me up a basket based on the Life Long Cumbrians design. The fella has got back to me and it will be ready the weekend, for £30. Just need some pegs now, anyone got any magnum poles with grommets for sale? Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
Hi mate, you should have got the guy to weld 2 keepers on for the strap otherwise it will probably slip back and knock it off balance. Good luck with it mate. Quote Link to post

Good luck with it mate. also looks like its going to be a bit on the heavy side too. looks like 10mm mild steel to me. SCRAMBLE Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
The keepers keep the basket balanced, my basket frames are 6mm very light. That is why i weld the strenghtener on the bottom of the slots. It is the only bit that needs to be strenghtened. Edited January 14, 2013 by lifelong cumbrian Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
I dont even know the guy doing it so its a bit hard for communication, I`ll just have to see what its like when it turns up. Im not worried about weight either, its going to be fooking heavy with spun poly nets in anyway. As long as it takes 12mm fibre glass pegs, it`ll do me. LLC, what knot did you say you use for tying the net bag on? Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
You have a pm mate. Quote Link to post
pipa 299
With this basket design could you fit a 100yrd and 50yrd long net in? Chris Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
How may poles is that mate. Depends how many yds you have your poles at. You could adapt this design to take 150yds no problem. You dont need put each net in either stack you just fill the rear one then start on the other. all you need to do to accomodate more net is make the frame higher. I have some bakets to take a lot of net, then you have to remember to leave the laundry bag longer to accept all the netting especialy if it is 6z. I like 4z best for a number of reasons. Be a fair bit in this one, Quote Link to post
mbp 0
Hi, where do you get the white basket material from? Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
Ebay mate or any ex army store. They are army laundry bags, cut them dow to the depth of bag you want. Usually around the £3 mark although i have seen new ones for £5 plus postage. Quote Link to post
