hutchey 147
Hi, luckily at the moment i have somone that does it for us but i've never seen it done. i'm told that there's no smell if you do it right but not sure if this is a tale or not Is there a course or somewhere you can go to see it done - ideally with your own kill? Jamie93 57
No problem. Drop mea pm when you're back and we'll arramge something. I always have fresh rabbits so that won't be a problem but you might have to get a pheasant, I've got a couple at the moment but they might smell by then lol. LauBen 9
I have to say that YouTube was great for this and showed me how to prepare a pheasant. To be honest the hardest part was plucking it, once I had done that the rest was easy.
Rake aboot 4,936
Just to expand on yer post, (rabbits etc are easy, you will pick it up in no time) why are you doing the Dsc 1 ?? I did mine, and it served no purpose whatsoever, It opened no doors ( money is all you need in stalking cause thats all deer stalking is about nowadays) The money would be better spent on a couple of stalks with a good chap, you will learn more and meet much more relevant people. Dsc is just another money aspect to stalking that would be better of done away with. Don`t want to derail yer post, so if you want I`ll edit this oot, but tbh I reckon it`s good advise ATB

Millet 4,497
It's easy skinning and preparing anything once you have done a lot but when you first start out it can be time consuming to say the least..i remember the first ever bunnie i skinned..at the time i was around 13yr old and spent a lot of time sat in the taxerdermist's helping out and watching him skin with a scalpel..so that's how i thought you skinned stuff instead of just riving it of.. ..it probaly took me around 30 minute's to carefully seperate the skin from the meat with feet and head intact just as had watched many times before..and the finnished product could quite easily be stuffed.. As for smell if the gut's are out within the hour they don't smell but when you cook them they can smell if you have forgot to remove the scent gland's from the arse end..
