been having a lot of trouble with rats in the back garden any advice on getting rid of them for good? laid poison down few weeks back sorted them out for a while but they are back again i have been popping them off with my air rifle but there's just too many to keep them down any advice will be much appreciated cheers

trapping shooting try putting ferret manure down. as said before there must be either a food source or some good shelter

garden huts and decking are ideal for rats

do you not know anyone with terriers there are a few welsh plummer terrier owners try the plummer terrier forum

Put some more poison down dont go over board with the amount you put down .when you see that the poison has gone wait a couple of days before you top it up.

The reason for doing it in this way is that the rat is a natural hoarder and will store the poison and not eat it and keep taking more only to store it .So by not giving them an endless supply they have to eat what they have stored .I have found doing it this way its not long before they are seeing stars!!

cheers we are moving home now anyway think your right mind next door to me they have all sorts of bird feeders around the garden and stingys at the back which must be the cause cant wait to get from here ive shot a few of them but they dont seem to go down there must be hundreds there my spaniel dog chases them but hasnt had any luck out there yet

Sounds bad!! You may have to move house!!

I was only joking when I suggested moving home!! Is it really that bad?

Aye I had some rat rouble and endless amount of bait was being scoffed down over several weeks and straw bails were being ripped into and straw was dragged under floor boards for bedding..

 

Months later I had no further trouble but when cleaning the garden under a pile of old felt and leaves, I found a stash of bait.. Had loads of blue bottles in shed, guess that was carcases rotting and maggots ??

 

Be alright for a bit firsk if you had some land, dump a load of foood and wait for them to move in :laugh:
