I like the deben 3 but for me the biggest disappointment has to be the price. If you work a few ferrets the price of collars on top is just ridicules. If you could bring one out that was as good but cheaper I think we would be queuing up. As it is we don't really have much choice, even second hand ones are going for stupid money unless your lucky.

I agree we work teams upto 10 during the season, that's scary amount of collars. What adds insult to injury is the fact the new mk3m are not that great either the metal parts inside just fallout after a while.

100%, ive had the metal bit fall out and the bit that you thread the collar through snap!

 

Apparently its adapted from a piece of kit used to check / locate blockages in drains or something like that.

The mk1box is the way to go everyone seems to get on with them. Also has anyone thought of some kind of chip in the collar instead of needing batteries. This could be sealed and then no need for batteries or no chance of getting snagged and lost. Just a thought:-)

What is worrying is, i bet Deben are looking at bringing out the new mark4,with more dials and led lights, stupid noises,and most important, far more expensive.

The thing is we just need somebody to post in a shooting magazine that there researching to produce a new ferret finder and i reckon deben's would slash there prices and provide so sort of after sales service they lack just now as there holding the monopoly on ferret locators

I hated the mk3m until I got the hang of it. I dont like the noise or the price but I find the led display pinpointer and search function very useful.

I know its illegal if its patented, but i wonder how it would stand if due to not providing the servicing for the product 'the old mk1's', there could be a loophole?
