scubadog 6
Hi. Thanks to everyone who has contacted me regarding the collar - now sorted thanks For those who missed it I am currently designing a ferret finder that will work on any of debens collars. The next question I would like to ask those who are in the know is what features do people want on a ferret finder? I have seen the mk1 and mk3 debben finders. Do people like to see the LED's? Do you use the search function? Do you like the bleeping noise or would you prefer another tone? Volume controll? Any other suggestions welcomed. Quote Link to post

scubadog 6
Earphone socket, good idea - easy to implement. May have to sacrifice some weather protection though. Nice idea - i will give it some thaught. Quote Link to post
masmiffy 82
Whatever you do will sell well so long as it works and is cheaper than the Deben stuff!! Good luck Quote Link to post
sam4530s 37
would like a klicking tone and a volume control , led indicator for depth down to 6" Quote Link to post
TOMO 27,020
Depth accuracy my old mark 1 boxes were bang on,, I realy could pinpoint the ferret,, however the new mk 3 don't seem so accurate, I know with mine and vins when it says 4 foot, it's 2 foot,,so accuracy is a must,, also reliability ,,, and a long battery life. Befor the mk3 Deben did a mk 2,,,, that was apparently shit, as it only picked up 1 collar,, and also had terrible battery life span. As to your question about noise, I do prefer the old clicking sound of the mk1, but like you have already thought , a volume control is a good idea, like the new mk 3. Quote Link to post
Old Rogue 8
Earphone socket, good idea - easy to implement. May have to sacrifice some weather protection though. Nice idea - i will give it some thaught. something that hasnt got 2 switches a knob an a screen with lights, the old grey box half the size an waterproof would be great. oh an if you could knock up a lamp like a striker with four good foxcalls on it put me down for one Quote Link to post
TOMO 27,020
Oh by the way don't you think there may be legalities about designing a new box to work with Deben collars?.?? Not that I'm bothered,, just thinking if your doing a commercial venture,, you might be in lumber,, I hope you do come up with something better,,,,, Oh yes one other thing......PRICE,,, make it cheaper Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
Cheaper than deben hi viz and a different sound to the mk3. Ive seen a mk1 deben box that had an earphone piece but as you said weather protection. And a better depth finder and abit easier to use. But if its cheaper than deben youll be off to a flying start anyway ! All the best. Quote Link to post
TOMO 27,020
Yes as rouge said about striker lamps,,, do one with an extra small bulb in like the lazer light ,, for opening gates , legging your catch ect.. 1 Quote Link to post
paulus 26
i never understood why someone didnt do a locator system based on avalanche type transmitor and receiver that would work not just with terriers but ferrets aswell, the mammut barryvox pulse is a cracking piece of kit with a massive seach mode that would come in well handy. as it stands the old mk1 has never really been bettered imo even with its limitations.
