Born Hunter 17,751
Them pics of ya pups suprise me reddawn, didn't expect them to look quite so smart, I expected something real mongrely. That red and merle is an interesting looking animal. Probably be bang on, time will tell. I can certainly see the weakness that a straight terrier has when bushing and the advantage of having a bigger and stronger dog that more easily cover rough ground. I'm more inclined to go springer x terrier but I can't imagine the end result being a great deal different in terms of success in the field.

Tusker 28
Some nice pics and opinions gents, but try keep arguments to private message ey? I'v been having some good days lately, the little beagle and spaniel crosses are flying on the boar now, just the job to get them out of the young spruce thickets here. Pure hounds are not much cop for me, as I dont have masses of land, and we tend to do smallish maneuvers compared to boar drives on the continent. Yeah some of mine will hunt on, a fair way at times, I can live with keenness! But Im not going looking for them in the next county! Im just gonna keep on pushing forward, and putting my best to the best. I dont ever sell or gift pups, I cull litters down to the amount I can enter myself, then cull HARD any that dont cut it, I may then let some entered dogs go to suited folk. I have a job and a house, I dont need or want money, my ambition is to breed a dog that perfectly suits the job of tracking and flushing big game in Britain, and able to find then hold or stop a wounded boar or deer for dispatch. Im getting there, its gonna be a long slog folks. But please folks, keep the posts coming in, Im really enjoying seeing all these workers of all shapes and sizes. All the best Tusker
