sussex 5,777 Posted January 9, 2013 Report Share Posted January 9, 2013 Hello guys, new on here but here goes .I stalk 3 or 4 times a week & never venture out with the dog.A lab,i know there really an air scent dog but they will ground scent withthe right training from a young age,she walks at heel & will sit if she scents a deer& wont move,she gets me 6 or so deer every year that i just would,nt get otherwise,steady as a rock under the seat, & will track wounded deer great. Its said you only get 1 really good dog in your life if your lucky,if this one is,nt mine i,ve got a great one to come.!!! My problem..........she is eleven . Were do i go next ? 3175darren 1,100 Posted January 10, 2013 Report Share Posted January 10, 2013 Nothing wrong with lab's very versatile dog it's how you bring them up,most dog's will scent blood I know some are specialists at it I find the trick is the closeness required from them, the stalker requires a steady calm quiet dog who will odey very small commands, they have to be attentive and not clingy,good lab ticks most of them boxes if its not brought in a hot way,sounds like to replace your bitch whatever you get, has its work cut out,good luck mate I know the dilemma you will be in, there are other good dogs out there though mate.
