As said theres no pitbull crosses on here. But i dont think a pitbull lurcher would come under a pitbull type.

Under the 1991 Act (and as amended in 1997) it is illegal to own any Specially Controlled Dogs without specific exemption from a court. The dogs have to be muzzled and kept on a lead in public, they must be registered and insured, neutered, tattooed and receive microchip implants. This means that whether a dog is prohibited under the Act will depend on a judgement about its physical characteristics, and whether they match the description of a prohibited 'type'. This assessment of the physical characteristics is made by a court.

Oh well silly me i must be a fool then......................the fact that a labrador x boxer could just as easily be taken as " type " means an " old time american bulldog " or whatever you want to call it could just as easily,probably even easier be taken as " type "......................the fact people in todays climate could post pictures of their dogs on a public internet forum even if they remotely resemble a pit bull type dog in anyway....................tells me i might be a big fool......but not as big a fool as some

Aye. It also means that if the authorities believe that it is of "Pit Bull Type" then old Marion down the road could have her Staffy x Labrador taken away.

I know the head of the local dangerous dog unit been round mine a couple of times about another dog i got. Hes seen my bull lurcher plenty of times never said a word even when hes been abit beat up. So no they wont allway take them.

But thats because its a staff cross right.

Take it from someone whos had the dangerous dogs unit round. They can TAKE whatever dog they want whether its a pitbull or a whippet. But they can only PTS if it fits a pitbull. A feller down the road from me had a pit x and it killed an old ladies poodle theyve still got it why ? Because its tall and leggy and doesnt fit there stupid breed type.

 

Watch the animal 24/7 episode where they are in london with a dangerous dog unit. There a 3 dogs that could ALL be looked at as pits. But they PTS the friendliest one of the lot .....
