Well today was the perfect pigeon shooting weather bright with light cloud strong blustery north/east wind.

With alot of the birds flighting that have been a struggle to pin down on the last couple of weeks in mild dull weather :cray:

But today was a diffrent day with the wind and the stubble actually dry instead of soaking wet and muddy .

The stubbles have been left untouched due the wet weather for two reasons the land is unworkable and the slugs have been so bad most farmer havent risked the winter drilling yet as the slugs have eaten all the OSR planted too early.

Well I arrived to find 200 or so on the wheat stubble alot of birds on the hawthorns stuffing themselfs .

I setup in a well used hide spot I know well over the years to product the goods just simple setup no whirly just bouncers in horseshoe shape.

The birds returned in steady flow until a couple of other shooters started a couple of miles away and then the numbers started to really move and right ding bong between I guess three maybe four guns.

I went on to 5 and then petered out and packed up with a respectable bag

When I took the birds to game dealers the other guns where there I would say we shoot 400 to 450 between us

I took 101 I think in

dont know about up your way but there seems to be hardly any acorns on the trees around our way, my theory is that where last year we had so many acorns all those waspy things or what ever they are that lay there eggs in the acorns bred so well last year that this year they have nailed all the acorns
