tomdean 4
just wanted to get some views and advice on castration. does it effect working dogs getting them done? have heard that if you get the dog working first then get it done after 2 years it will be ok but not sure? cheers
beast 1,884
it won't change anything to do with work except some dogs will be more prone to puttig on weight so you will have to watch diet/exercise. dont know what difference it would make to get the dog working first then wait two years? skycat 6,174
Wait until the dog has finished growing: 12-14 months. Not only its physical body is growing until then, but the hormone changes help to make the dog an adult mentally: some dogs that are done early, at 6 months or so, remain very puppyish in their heads, which is fine for pets, but not so good for working dogs.
