Wolf programme on TV last night.

Recommended Posts

Anyone watch it ? That big dog wolf that pulled the bison down, single handed, at the beginning, would have no problem with a Red Stag, I'd think !! :icon_eek:

Cheers.

What channel was it on? And can I access it on catch up tv?

BBC2 mate,, as far as catchup i wouldnt be too sure..

The one that got trampled to fvck didn't !! LOL !!   Cheers.

Custer owned Stags, (and no, I'm not that old that I was there !! LOL !!), but I don't know what he ran them on. I think there are a few different breeds of wolf in the 'States, in the south and Mexic

wonder if storms up for stud?

With all the centuries of breeding for a certain standard,we are miles away from producing,as an hunting companion, anything that can match what evolution gave us a millenia ago.The power and stamina of the northern wolf is beyond our comprehension.

Just watched it on iplayer: very good programme. When he said that some chases can last for 20 miles....! And to watch them swimming across 2 miles of choppy water only to find nothing but an old carcase on the other side. And I loved the bit where the youngster gets flipped off a carcase for daring to claim the whole body as its own: watching my own pack at home, the behaviour is identical, not that I feed my dogs whole cows :tongue2::laugh:

It's the relationships between the different pack members I love to watch, both on programmes like these and in my own dogs. And the 'tag team' tactics of the 3 wolves attempting to injure the buffalo calf so its mother would abandon it.

Great programme and some dedication on the cameramans part to get that footage on the ground in those conditions. Did anyone see the other wolf doc where a line wolf had hold of a bison and it was litterally one or the other going to die struggle was supposed to have lasted hours with the wolf getting kicked and tossed about like a ragdoll but knew if it didn't make this kill hunger would of killed it great bit of film that shows how cruel but amazing nature is
