First proper post.

Recommended Posts

Hello again all,I've posted once before just to introduce myself and say hi,but this time I'm just sharing my excitement,I'm off to a mates farm on Saturday for my first proper ferreting trip with my trio. Been to the farm a few times to get a feel for the best spots and have my eye on two decent warrens. I've got 50 nets, locater and 2 collars,I'm only going to work two ferrets at a time but not expecting to much as they still quite young. My polecat jill is also quite a small animal but feisty as hell when it comes to rabbits. I have the highest hopes for the sandy Jill as she is always on top form when it comes to it. My hob is big and strong so I'm expecting abit of digging.

I've been out with a friend before but this is my first solo trip so I'm quite exited,I'll keep you all posted on my results as well as some pics.

Cheers for the replies guys. Really looking forward to going, the wife has decided she wants to come along now,not sure weather that's a good or bad thing.

Anyone else from Hertfordshire at all?

make sure she,s on picnic duty mate..and show her the spade and let her have a go..Nest time you,ll be on yer own enjoying the peace and quiet..lol.

Dont get me wrong i like my wife's company..but she,s not made for ferreting..glass backs and perfume..dont mix...they always smell too much as well, even when they dont wear scent they still smell too nice to be out ferreting..lol

I have managed to persuade my Wife to accompany me on some of my trips.

I have to say she is a reluctant ferreter.

But she carries the ferret box, and the spade, and is now helping to put down and lift the nets.

Had a job at first, to get her to stop talking, and keep quiet. :D

But she is now learning a bit of fieldcraft.

Turning out a handy worker, as a lot of my Ferreting is hedges.

go out and enjoy your self. but remember it is addictive.

I went out 40 years ago with an old Poacher, and im still at it.

Look forward to more of your posts.
