Amazing bit of kit, looks weird seeing it "walking"   I bet it costs more than a horse though

I can't see the vid on this machine. Is it of the DARPA legged squad support system? Fecking mad some of the top end military projects.   "Rise of the machines" lol   Interestingly and coincidenta

I'm sure they said the same about the automobile when it was first invented. Why would anyone chose one of those over a decent horse? It's innovative!

And they said Clive Sinclairs C5 would take over from the car !! LMFAO !! Not every new innovation is a world beater !!

You're right, they aren't all the future. But no body learnt a thing by not having a go..... The military are well known for supporting and funding 'mad scientists'. Surely you can see the advantage of legged vehicle over a wheeled one? Rocky alpine terrain would completely f**k a wheeled vehicle! With a few more years work whats to say that 'beatle' can't scale a 6 foot sheer cliff in exactly the same way a bug would something of relative height? Something again a wheeled vehicle could'nt. I can see a lot of potential for such a thing personally.

I think you also have to look at that thing as the first step along the way to something.. If I was trying to see the way that thing could go, I'd be looking at the UAV's that are now in daily service. They started off as no more than pilotless eyes in the sky, now they are armed and capable of precision strikes against hostile targets.. That thing may look noisy and bulky, but if its adopted its descendants will undoubtedly become more silent and efficient as the years go on and may ultimately become armed and deadly to boot..
