Brooksey 0
I'm on a budget so can only afford gen1 nightvision scopes, are they worth buying? What distance will I see for example a rabbit in enough detail to place an accurate shot? And which make and model? Im not sure I believe the 100m advertised on some packaging. old school 518
i think if you couple them with an infra red filter on your lamp it'l work as good as any!!! i've never tried it tho, but i've seen a fair few on youtube!!
Brooksey 0
I also saw this and made an ir filter to go on my clulite sl2 and attached a monocular to my scope, it worked kind of but to many buttons and messing about. It was good to about 50 ft. I'm just so unsure about spending four to sort of six hundred and not being able to place a humane shot over 45 ft ish. Most of the descriptions say 100m recognition I'm not so sure, also does that mean a black shape or detail?
storme37 9
apparently you can make a nv setup from digital cameras
Brooksey 0
All tried and tested buddy, to many buttons battery's etc. And after all the effort you only get about 45 to 60ft tops, was looking at an atn 410 it's says 100m on the box but I'm thinking if I half that that's probably more like it I may be wrong though. camo304 3
If you don't mind going the add-on route Pulsar Challenger with a N1000, you would need a day scope with side px tho. This is about the best gen1 about for the money good out to Hmr range
jmj121 30
I had a Pulsar Challenger and found it very poor, i would say the Nitesite NS200 is a much better bit of kit.... Not cheap but good for upto 200 Yards..
camo304 3
I had a Pulsar Challenger and found it very poor, i would say the Nitesite NS200 is a much better bit of kit.... Not cheap but good for upto 200 Yards.. What laser was you running with it?? gen1 needs lots of IR just like digi
jmj121 30
er i had a Pulsar IR Laser Flashlight L808 and it did help but the NS200 is so much better and easy to fit.
camo304 3
Better in what way?? Challenger with N1000 will get him out to 100 yards head shots on the right night, me i will stick with me Gen3 and thermal
jmj121 30
The Pulsar just extends the rear of the scope so much that its not easy to use..... the picture is not all that great.... the NS200 changes the way you hold a gun and its great for shooting from cars.... better picture quality also. Each to your own i suppose, both about the same kinda money when you add a good illumination. the NS200 is better for me, but try and make your own mind up ...
Brooksey 0
Funny really had my mind set on a atn 390 even transferred the funds, but reckon I'll just stick to the clulite and filters. I do think that the advertisements reports of a 100m recognition range is a bit naughty when in reality without extra or new ir illuminator that's probably near on 25 meters to far and accurate shot placement is more like 40-60 dependent on the night. Moan over, thanks for the advice chaps!
camo304 3
The thing with nv is go and try as much as you can before parting with any cash, as J121 says everyone as different likes so better to try before you buy if poss.
