Gaz_1989 9,539
My £12.98 Cree from china arrived yesterday off Ebay. I am VERY impressed! It is a cracking size, very sturdy and well made. Comes with 2 x rechargeable batteries and a battery charger. It is very light, fits in the smallest of pockets. It is more than enough for knocking over a few bunnys in small-medium fields and to be fair it would be more than i ever need for the lamping i do. HOWEVER... It has got 5 mode settings, Low, Medium, Bright, Pulsing and SOS Sequence flash. Basically if you are lamping on high (bright), turn it off and then turn it back on - then it comes back on in the pulsing mode, so you have to flick it on and off 5 times to get back to "bright" mode again. Ive tried to get around it by swapping the tail cap but the cotrol itself seems to be on the tiny PCB where the CREE LED is mounted. I cant see a way out of it... Any tips appreciated, but im an electronic engineer by trade so have covered the bases... I am considering getting someone to make me a small PCB with simply "on and off" to eliminate all of the modes. Cheers Gaz
paulus 26
when you turn it off hold the button down for a couple of seconds and it will come back on the same setting when you turn it back on

But follow Paulus's advise and you will get used to the modes and moving through them to get to the bright one soon enough.
