First net done!

Recommended Posts

First attempt at making a purse net was a success!! Few hiccoughs along the way, ended up having to undo almost an entire row, but in the end worked out really well! Twine, mesh board, rings, needles, and draw cord all purchased from agouti nets, then used two different video tutorials to help, one on YouTube done by Steve Henderson (I think that's his name) and the joining twine tutorial on agouti nets, looking forward to making more in my spare time, save myself some coin!

Bob youre doing it all wrong,,when you drop a bollock you should throw a hissy fit and then chuck the lot into the fire.........like I do then the wife and kids all laugh at me day to day Im a reall

Mate, I went through nearly a full spool when I learnt. To do 14 rows then get a slip... Then there was the blistered hands. I couldnt put it down though, quite addictive once you get going.

I agree with darren there's a lot of satisfaction in catching a rabbit in a net you made yourself I learnt 2 year ago n never looked back fair play and a nice looking first attempt they can only get better ;)

Well done mate, I have done it for years it's a great way of filling time,I even take the gear when I go camping, I have never been a reader or telly watcher, there's something satisfying about catching a rabbit in you own net,

That's what I'm really looking forward to! Can't wait to get out on Sunday, hopefully get one hit my homemade net! Yeah great time filler, hoping the next one doesn't take as long aha.

made my first one over 40yrs ago and still enjoy making them (now and again) a skill thats worth learning even if you dont even keep ferrets, as it has multiple uses

I did think that whilst I was making it, haven't tried long netting yet, or got any gate nets, might try my hand at a couple of them once I've done a few more purse nets
