gamerooster 1,179
might sound a bit extreme, but watching 'commando on the front line', they searched a village for Taliban, ask questioned the resident, to which they got a no, there are none here, only to have gone 100 meters down the road and start getting shot at from the village they have just searched!!! Now what I think, to teach a lesson, send an air-strike over, to show that whoever hides the Taliban, pays the consequences!!!

scothunter 12,609
They may use thier kids to help fight and some may even do it willingly, but we should never forget that they are kids. Brainwashed into a barbaric ideology yes they are. However the day we even attempt to justify the killing of children, IMO we are no better than the Taliban. Even during the Iraq wars when those spectacular explosions filled our screens from our smart bombs. There was a part of me that kept going back to a news report the day before. Where wee kids were playing on swings and although thier parents were obviously in fear, the wee ones hasn't a care in the world. That soon changed the next evening, and as much I would like to think they came through it unscathed I very much doubt they all did.
JohnGalway 1,043
I saw a programme on RTE a few weeks back, some journalist wandering around Afghanistan. He was with some Taliban for a while, they were like a Fawlty Towers outfit. Couldn't get the convoy times right, even with look outs. Fired three RPG's at a truck and all missed. Road side IED wouldn't detionate. They had a big row between themselves afterwards, some lad roaring that another lad had to press and hold the D button on the phone, which he duly then did..... BOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........... Other lad replies "Anyone who get's you to make a mine is a fool!" and storms off. Then they regroup, have another big row as to what they'll tell the boss. The boss get's told the tank is destroyed and they killed at least 7 or 8 soldiers, great victory, everyone went home happy. Then the journo get's warned off, as there are bigger big bosses about and he's not welcome, so off he goes to tag along with the police for a while. "Is there any Taliban in this area?" Oh no, none replies the police commander, you can see all the traffic here, they cannot get near the road (the Taliban). Same area as the Fawlty Towers attack just a day or two before. Then he goes off to a village and asks the kids about different things. They're clearly being prompted from outside the view of the camera as to what to say. They reckon truth is the first casualty in conflict. I don't think they ever heard of the word there, they all lie all of the time.

JohnGalway 1,043
edited to say john the reason the explosive didnt go off is because of our equipment mate I remember seeing something about that, must be two years or more ago about some type of signal blockers. Was very funny on the programme a few weeks back though, pity they weren't standing around it pressing buttons.
