Reading is nothing to actualy doing it ! Save up, buy a ticket, get in touch with the lads down there, ( they are the best and will gladly take a decent bloke out hunting), get down there and do it !!

We hunt rabbits hares foxes and feral pigs with the same dogs we blend the breeds to let us do that theres 4 in my yard that do the job. As was said different strokes for different folks.

Anyone use them on here?what are they like?any pics?'

You might as well ask what deerhounds are like. The reason being is becuase when the numbers where so few some years back they used deerhounds (alot of them) to stir the gene pool to stop inbreeding and the extinction of the breed. Due to this most of these so called irish wolf hounds have nothing close to irish wolf in them any more. Hope it helps :)

got no pics but hunted with a young one a year back. was almost picking up rabbits but im pretty sure the bloke got it for deer. unfortunately he said it turned out too slow for deer (even though he bought it for $1000 he has a feeling a great dane got over the IW rather than the persons IW) he said it has a fair crack at fallow but he needs to run it with a quicker dog and it will then try to retrieve the deer to him.

As Ausnick said they still work them in Australia, never seen them mentioned on the American forum though. There isn't a point to having one now except as a pet and show dog
