Just been walking out on a new bit of permision I gained last night for ferreting to have a look and well the first bit is ok with a few rabbits sat out but on the other majority of the land cover is absolutly ridiculous, any way around the top of the field there was a huge hole in the ground about 5ft wind and roughly 10ft deep and looked as tho some one had dug it out with a digger to get something out as at the botton it looked as tho it was leading into a set...I then walked further down the field and ther was another pile of freshly dug mud and a hole that looked astho I could fit into it obviously a one hole set there was no bedding outside so I presume its a relativly new fox set. Now I have been on a couple of digs in the past. But I'm not expertbut wopuld foxes be digging new sets now for winter months or are they more likely to be staying in cover? My beddy whippet seemed to just keep curcling the set and sniffing around it :s she's never seen a fox before so was just curious is all is this typical of a fox to be digging this time of year? Think I may need to have a word with the land owner and maybe invest in a terrier and a shotgun lol atb

First thing to do is ask the farmer, dont want his cattle walking into it, break there legs, ATB

there's no cattle on this field or any of the surround bud. I'm gonna speak to the farmer tomorrow and ask her what the crack is up there. Ill take some piks and get them up asap so everyone can take a look. Atb

maybe the farmer is digging for oil? :boogy: or going to bury something?

by your online name I take it you live near me? I would invite you along to see what you think? The land owner dosnt live near me so I can't get in contact untill I see them next to ask what it is...but sure looks like a set to me :s
