Puppy christening yesterday

After speaking to O'B it was a tradition that dates back over a hundred years that was revived by the Holme Valley Beagles in the 70s and was as far as he knows only carried out in and around the Colne Valley

Here are the Words as you can see it is in old Yorkshire dialect

"Theu mon bea a good hound an true to thi mester

Theu mun not worry chickens nor ducks, nor geese nor nowt wi feathers on

anTheu mun not bother sheep nor cows, but theau can run a fox as long as thee legs el carry thee

The mun keep thee nose cold and thee tale up and thee munt waste the time marlocking wi curr dogs an like

an im beaun to call the (name of hound) see theaw art a good hound and a credit to thee father and o'belonging thee"
