SalukiBULLJP 27
See one work, only 16"tts a couple a years ago and was a bit shakey and scatty yet fast....whippet x grey or whippet x beddy etc.Its all horses for courses...they all have their weaknesses but amazing to watch on rabbits....strike faster than most other crosses.....italian greyhound was bred for a purpose just like our lurchers are, lads have proven working lines all containing bits and bobs of different blood types wether it be collie, bul, grey, beddy, saluki, beardie, deerhound etc..all bred by folk for their own personal reasons.....ive a small 3/4 whipp x beddy grey, bigger than any straight whippet, heavier yet still even get vets and lurcher/whippet folk walking up and asking how olds yer whippet or is that a "Laguna blue"??..and even at a year old was asked if she was a "italian greyhound puppy" ..(by a qualified vetinary surgeon at the local vets when she had a deep slice to her front legs.....)... chartpolski 23,467
Italian greyhounds in the UK are classed as a "Toy Breed"; not a "Hound Breed". They are VERY prone to broken bones, and although there WILL be people come on here and say they own, have owned or saw one working and doing incredible things, it should never even enter anyones mind to use them in Lurcher breeding ! Using an Italian greyhound for working is akin to using a Yorkshire Terrier as an Earth Dog ! Cheers. 2 Quote Link to post
BS40liam 203
I've seen a italian greyhound and it was the same size as my beddy whippet 16 tts so if my dog can do it why couldn't a italian grey? Quote Link to post
Floyd17586 454
At a year old compared to an italian gh which are the same size as a long legged jackrussell Quote Link to post
Floyd17586 454
Any italian gh ive seen in this country are small delicate things that might have tha speed for a rabbit but if it was a windy day or night it would blow away .imo to small and delicate as game said there a toy breed here just used for puppy peddlers.
